Can still absolutely relate to this at 35! Also I'd completely forgotten what an icon Alexa Chung is 😂

I loved this!! I totally feel this on so many levels. Mentally I changed a lot when I hit thirty as well but I went from not caring or thinking about style at all in my twenties to suddenly trying and failing to find mine. Only to end up essentially back to jeans and a tshirt as my best look after trying a million things out.

But I could never figure out why it looked so much better on these icons either, until you said it’s just the addition of a pop of color here or a perfect accessory there.

I feel like Birkin and Beckham combined are the two I most want to emulate!

So glad you enjoyed it and that I am not alone with these thoughts. The pop of color (especially red comes up a lot) is something I never considered before. Will definitely do now.

Birkin and Beckham are such a great mix. 🧡 I am leaning towards Birkin, Olsen Twins, and Bessette-Kennedy.

This was really cool! I think of my favourites here (Alexa, sienna, olsen twins, Jane Birmingham) masculine and feminine energies are at play. I think you should consider Pamela Anderson and how she is dressing now as a more mature lady, she is perfect for this article and what you’re wanting to emulate. I think your takeaways should be how you ‘feel’ rather than specific styling rules. I don’t know about you but I never wear heels even if I love them to death!! Etc etc !

I 100% agree! I tried to look for my style in my 20s and HAH! Here I am, still thinking that infinity scarves and leggings under long tops are a look. Still wearing colourful tights and open cardigans over knee-length dresses to look quirky. Share a prayer. I like your inspo, but as a self-proclaimed alternative gal, I can't help but wonder where's the personality in all that? Olsen's looks at least are black but they say nothing about the person...

Completely understand where you are coming from. To me fashion has been more about comfort than expressing my personality. But I am sure that there are timeless fashion icons fitting any vibe. How about Helena Bonham Carter, Winona Ryder, Florence Welch? They all manage to have a style that adapts over time, but at the core stays the same.
